Kurbani Eid, also known as Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two major Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command. However, before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, God provided a ram to sacrifice instead.
During Kurbani Eid, Muslims around the world commemorate Ibrahim's obedience by sacrificing an animal such as a sheep, goat, cow, or camel. This act symbolizes their willingness to give up something of value for the sake of God. The meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts: one-third is given to the poor and needy, one-third is shared with relatives and friends, and the remaining third is kept for the family.
